One Year since Electrochem Acquisition

November 2025 marks one year since Ultralife Corporation completed its acquisition of Electrochem Solutions.  Throughout that time, the acquisition has strengthened Ultralife's battery production capabilities, particularly in the oil and gas sector, where we now have three brands – Excell Battery, Southwest Electronic Energy and Electrochem Solutions – expanding our reach as a market leader.

The addition of Electrochem has also helped to broaden Ultralife’s offerings, creating a more complete product portfolio.  Several non-rechargeable cell chemistries have been added, including Lithium Sulfuryl Chloride and Lithium Bromine Chloride, and our Lithium Thionyl Chloride range has gained more cell sizes, such as Sub AAA, 3/2 C, Sub C, Sub CC, CC, DD and TSD.

A new facility in an excellent U.S. location

Electrochem, headquartered in Raynham, MA, is based in a facility that was custom-built for the sole purpose of high-quality battery manufacturing.  Designed for optimal safety and material flow throughout the production process, this location covers 82,000 square feet and houses manufacturing space, offices, R&D labs, testing centers and a dry room.

Located just 30 miles south of Boston, Electrochem also benefits from its proximity to one of the most educated workforces in the U.S.  The region’s strong pool of technical and engineering talent, sourced from leading institutions such as MIT, Harvard, Northeastern, UMass, and WPI, lies within an hour’s drive of Electrochem's facility.

Well-situated for military, medical and industrial expertise

Electrochem was a natural fit for the Ultralife group, sharing its commitment to designing and manufacturing battery solutions for critical applications where reliability is paramount and failure is not an option.  Together, we support critical applications in military, medical, oil and gas, and other demanding industrial markets.

Massachusetts has strong links to the military, as it was the birthplace of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard, which has led to a robust defense and aerospace industry that leverages decades of collaboration between industry, academia, and the government.

Electrochem qualifies certain cells and battery packs to military standards and regulations, including MIL-STD-130M for product marking and MIL-STD-810F for environmental testing.  Some lithium cells and battery packs hold NSNs, identifying them as standardized supply items for the U.S. Department of Defense.

Massachusetts is also a leader in medical care due to its top-ranked health system and a concentration of world-class medical schools and research institutions.  Electrochem’s background in the medical sector stems from its inception as part of Greatbatch Medical, a leading pacemaker battery manufacturer.

Electrochem offers the following products and services

Primary Lithium Cells

Electrochem’s primary lithium cell solutions have a highly regarded reputation for quality and reliability.  Cells are designed to cater for a wide range of rate capability and temperature requirements.

Custom Battery Packs

In addition to producing off-the-shelf non-rechargeable cells, Electrochem can integrate them into custom pack configurations.  Its in-house design team can utilize industry standard configurations or custom pack configurations to ensure the power solution meets its unique application requirements.

FastCap® Ultracapacitors

Electrochem is an exclusive manufacturer of FastCap® Ultracapacitors.  These ruggedized ultracapacitors can deliver exceptional power density in extreme conditions.  This technology is on the leading edge of innovation, pushing the limits of high temperature, rechargeable energy storage.
